Tire Load Index Chart
The load index is the two- or three-digit number after the size on your tire (the 102 in 225/65R17 102H). It is the maximum weight one tire carries at its rated pressure. Replacement tires must meet or exceed the load index on your vehicle's tire placard; light-truck (LT) tires list two numbers, single / dual (121/118), for use with single or dual rear wheels.

How much load do I need?
Your placard load index already includes a safety margin for a loaded vehicle. Going higher is fine; going lower is not. For towing and hauling with a pickup, compare the tire's load capacity (index × 4) against the truck's gross vehicle weight rating and consider an LT tire with Load Range E (chart).
